The Federal Aviation Administration uses solar power to monitor changing weather conditions amidst the high mountain peaks of Lake Clark Pass in Alaska. Pilots can view real-time weather conditions provided by a video camera prior to takeoff. All the power for the system designed by RES is provided by two small wind turbines and eight solar panels.
