Shipboard Wind Energy

The "Alaska Leader" is a year-round live-aboard vessel with full amenities, and freezers that store a one-year supply of food. Before installing the RES energy system, running a generator 24/7 was necessary to keep the freezers working and the ship comfortable.

RES installed an 11KW system complete with a Xantrex SW 11KW inverter/charger, two 1000W Kestrel wind turbines and eight Rolls Surrette 6-CS-25PS batteries.

The system has worked as engineered, the generator runs once a day for five hours, and the Kestrel Wind Turbines survived winds clocked at over 120 MPH!
